  • How come when you turn the car ON (not start) the turbo gage goes up, but when you fully start the car it goes back down?

  • When it's in the white it means there is negative pressure in the intake, the engine is just sucking air in by itself because the turbo isn't spinning fast enough to force air in. The orange/red means there is positive pressure in the intake, so the turbo is spinning fast enough and forcing air into the engine. Before starting the engine the intake pressure isn't positive or negative, so it lies between. Then when you start it the engine starts sucking in air so it goes to negative pressure.
