Alcoy top Lalawigan Sinulog

Defending champion Alcoy Siloy Festival emerged as this year's winner in the elementary division of the " Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan " held at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.

Both Sinulog organizers and judges in the competition were surprised by improvements in the performances, costumes, choreography, and even " musicality " of the contingents from the different municipalities and component cities of Cebu.

Siloy Festival of Alcoy wowed not only the crowd but also the judges with their superbly synchronized and spontaneous movements and overall performance.

Donning colorful costumes and native props, the children from Alcoy portrayed the Siloy, or Black Shama, which is endemic to their place. The theme of their presentation revolved on how to save Mother Earth and endangered bird species, which the town is known for.

" Siloy showed the same theme, the use of the birds, as last year. But they were able to put visuals, enhanced production, movement, transition and choreography. The high level of performance of the kids was very important, " said Josefina Guillen, president of the Philippine Folk Dance and this year's Sinulog sa Kabataan's chief judge.

" It's not hard to pick the winner. We are unanimous, actually, " she said.

Alcoy took home the cash prize of P40,000 and a trophy, with an additional P5,000 for its choreographer, Victor Cuenco, a seasoned choreographer with several years of Sinulog experience.

Yeah.......... murag FI jud siya but since gi-consider man siya as SB sa Sinulog Foundation because sa costume, steps ug uban pang technicalities and i know that they are really doing their job that well let's face the fact nga nindot jud siya pagkamugna.

So lesson learned nalang ni sa mga mo"join" nga dapat claro ang concept sa sunod (kay wa jud ko kasabot sa concept (storyline) sa uban --- hehehe para jud mo makadaug and practice sad sugod na karon..... hehehehehehe

unsa may kapasidad nimo nga makaingon nga dili SB ang Siloy, ayaw ko ug ingna nga maayo pa ka sa mga judges nga mga banggiitan nga mga taga manila, ug ang nag qualify sa siloy ang taga Sinulog Foundation man, di gani siguro ka kamao mosayaw!!! pag third place namo last year nganu wa may nireklamo?
