At that point, there were two restaurant service areas (one in each direction) and two gas station-only service areas on the turnpike... there was a restaurant area just west of Lee (I forget whether it was eastbound or westbound) with a gas-only area in the other direction, and a reversed pair in Blandford (~5 miles west of Westfield).
About 10 years ago, when the original leases came up and the Turnpike took it in-house, they replaced the gas-onlys with full service areas.
Nope! In the 80's. from NY borderline to Westfield, MA...there was NO stops at all! Be cause you are driving through The Berkshires Mountains for about 60 miles until the city of Westfield. Right now, there's a huge rest stop with 2 restaurants and a Motel 6 about 30 miles from the borderline called The HalfWay Point! By the way, check out Alive and Kicking video by Simple Minds. It was filmed there, right after the eye of the Hurricane Gloria 1985, when they played at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA.
dont think so this video is only 2:36 long and at only about 58 mph its quite reasonable there wouldn't be a rest stop or even a sign for one in the video
