Changes in scope of the Carbon Reduction Commitment and removing recycling of revenues will effectively increase the energy costs for organisations by some eight percent, putting further pressure on the need to understand and reduce energy consumption.

Technology continues to have a pivotal role to play in helping organisations get control of their energy and carbon impact and drive reductions. Against a backdrop of rising energy and raw materials prices, good sustainability practices can deliver significant and long lasting cost savings, whilst reducing carbon.

BT's customers are saying that energy efficiency is increasingly important to them. BT is addressing this need on many levels from improving the energy efficiency of BT's products through to offering a suite of propositions and services to help government and corporate customers reduce carbon, improve energy efficiency and often to increase productivity.

A couple of examples include Northumbrian Water who have reduced mileage and associated CO2 by around twenty percent, using BT's Field Force Automation.

And Kent County Council who are reducing travel by
ten per cent in a single year, saving seven hundred and fifty thousand pounds and four hundred tonnes of carbon emissions as a result of using BT's Conferencing solutions.

This is just two examples, you can learn more about these and other ways BT is working to reduce organisations impact on the environment at the same time as cutting costs by visiting the BT Global Services Green IT webpages online today.
