per request (wiiplayer9isback), this is a video of the manual evacuation function of the simplex 4010. sorry for the dark quality; the main panel is in my closet and is dark, but i couldnt move it due to the wiring. [A SYSTEM TEST IS ON THE WAY, NO WORRIES] Here are the keystrokes: Menu, Login, code is the default level 2 code, 2000, clear to the high level option screen, function, manual evacuation, enter, scroll to on, enter, confirm, and bingo. signal is a simplex 9423w/smartsync, 4606 annunciator used to reset the panel. pull is a 4099-9003. Notice the programmable LED's on the panel and annunciator that indicate a manual evacuation...

  • How do you have your 2098-9806 keystation working?

  • I have the keyswitch wired to the terminals for the switch on the pull station, so pulling the station or activating the switch will do the same thing. The LED is wired to the strobe circuit as they both operate on 24v.

  • Why not just pull a station?

  • It was requested I did it like this

  • The elementary school a few of my friends went to has that same fire alarm panel tied into an old Simplex 4208 panel from when the school was first built. The signals are old Simplex 4051 horns on 4050-80 light plates.

  • Ah, I thought it was a four-wire smoke reset. Which is what they're primarily used for. I have mine setup like that. The switch was wired to the SLC loop and the LED was hooked to the strobe NAC so it turns off when the system is reset. Mine is here:

  • Sure, certainly a possibility

  • maybe its to test the dialer as well, if it shows the station that its a manual evac maybe a school or business can have instructions not to send the FD

  • I agree. I'm sure there's some way you can disable that by reprogramming the entire panel, but that's too much work for a fire drill.

  • That's stupid.

If it were a drill, I wouldn't want it to notify the station.
