A crossover hatchback incorporating the size of a compact with the styling of an SUV, the 2nd generation Toyota ist was unveiled in Tokyo on the 30th of July. When compared to the first generation ist, first released in 2002, the new second generation ist, has more aggressive styling, with a shorter and wider body measuring 4m long and 1.7m wide. Designed to appeal to Generation Y buyers in their 20's, the car features 16" wheels, sculpted body lines, overhanging rear fenders and a redesigned grille. SRS and curtain shield airbags are standard in all models and the ist comes with a 1.8 liter Dual VVT-i, or 1.5 liter Super CVT-i engine. The ist will be released in the US in August, re-badged under the Scion name. Toyota is aiming to sell 13,000 units in America, with the marketing concept of a compact yet luxury car, similar to the Lexus.

I'm sorry, but you confuse me. The first gen ist was the xA. Now, because it has been redesigned, they changed it to the xD.
