@dangoXdango It is a comedy. It's a black comedy, where the comedy is derived from dark and serious situations. Just because it's funny, doesn't mean it can't be deep and serious as well.

Welcome to the NHK is a hilarious black comedy, but it is also a social commentary that treats its subject matter with the sensitivity it deserves; being understanding, not demeaning.
