  • Great post. It is a wonderful glimpse in to the past, but I must admit to experiencing some emotional heart tugging as I viewed these brave men marching to what was in many instances , a hell on earth.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • You forgot to mention the treaties of encirclement that were designed to disolve the German Empire which had only been unified for 44 years at the outbreak of war.

  • @MANTLEBERG, lol, I was about to make a sarcastic remark about the lack of "DIEversity" too.

  • Where are the pakis????

  • It is a beautiful video with the year 1914, it recounts the memories we will never forget. Kisses!!!Lucile

  • WW1 has always effected me way more emotionally than WW2. Maybe its because ww2 is so used in video games and movies and stories. But WW1 and that whole era is just forgotten, its a whole other world.

  • Even then the slaughter of the youth turns my stomach just like any other war does...16 and 18 year old that never saw home or their mothers again......

  • MY GRANDFATHER WAS BORN IN 1896 AND WENT OVER IN 1914 , HE WAS IN THE NORTHAMPTON REGIMENT , HE WAS IN THE HORSE GUARD BUT WHEN THEY GOT TO FRANCE THEIR WAS NO NEED OF HORSES IN THE TRENCHES SO THEY ATE THE HORSES . HE ALSO TOLD MY COUSIN HE PLAYED FOOTBALL WITH THE GERMANS DURING THE CHRISTMAS DAY TRUCE , WHAT A AWFUL WAR UP TO THEIR WAISTS IN MUD WATER AND RATS . GOD REST THEIR SOULS . THANK YOU

  • this is amazing!!! my grandfather fought in WWI he lost his leg at Vimy Ridge.

god bless! its hard to beleive that my uncle was in the second world war and to think i just turned 30 this year!!

  • This period is so interesting. So much seemed to change, so much didn't, and surprising elements existed on both ends of the war. The corset was dropped a few years before 1914.

  • @carrotville And for good reason, considering what happened this time...
