Barack Obama in Union Missouri

Barack Obama Campaigns in Union Missouri, July 30th 2008. Barack Obama energized over 200 supporters Wednesday in the Union park pavilion with an off the cuff address which touched on economic issues, federal education programs and infrastructure needs. The Union visit was the final leg of a tour of rural Missouri that began in Springfield Wednesday morning. Other stops included a diner in Lebanon and a town hall meeting in Rolla. In an interview with The MIssourian prior to Wednesday's speech, Obama said he will campaign hard statewide. "We want to make sure that people all throughout Missouri know we are competing hard," he said. "We opened up 24 offices across the state and Union is a good community and a wonderful example of good common people struggling with high taxes, gas prices and job loss. We are not only reaching out to the big cities but to all the towns across Missouri." Obama was accompanied on the tour by U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri.
