After firing it was customary to rub the black soot on one's face that was left on the track and launcher. Then, off to the local bar to consume large quantities of Ouzo. 84th USAFAD/6BN 32nd FA!

That's a good shot, you blink...you miss the launch...I fired two of them in Crete on the Range in the Med. What a great time, and the food down town kicked but ;c)

Wasnt a Cgi trick that was the real MCcoy as at he time of this last firing camp Cgi wasnt around A&T 15 BTY 50MSL REGT
Footage of last live firing camp for the British army with the lance missile. This particular mission was with 3 missiles firing at the same target with launch pads approx 1km apart, smoke trails spookily write 666!!!.

The black smoke coming out the side was from the spgg (solid propellant gas generator) who's main job was to pressurise the system and force the two liquid propellants (UDMH IRFNA) down to the engine, via diaphragms which burst at the correct pressure. The secondry job of the spgg was to initiate spin which was maintained by the control surfaces (fins) which where slightly offset.
