Thanks. Not exactly sure but somewhere between $800 and $1000 for the boat and maybe $600 in the trailor. A lot less then buying one. My first boat ever - so plans easy enough. Plenty of support from Spira if you do have trouble.

@SOUTHEDISTO Im building this boat with plans from Spira, wondering if you found any tricks or issues while building your boat. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

@FishMagnet85 The plans from Spira are great and everything fit together perfectly. One thing I did do differently was use outdoor deck screws on almost everything. Cheaper than stainless, stronger than nails or small screws, and they really hold. No problems with rust either. But the best advice is get a strong friend to help! Search "drift boat build" on picasa web albums for more photos.

Love the video. Thinking about building a drift boat. Is fishing from it alone a HUGE pain in the butt? That is my one holding point. (At least until I can talk the wife into rowing full time..) :)

@dnejeff It can be but once you get used to working the oars and anchor it isn't much of a problom. With a trolling motor on the back it is a breeze to fish alone or with someone else in front.

I'd bolt a tow ring on the front so you can drag it back up a embankment if you launch it the way you did it.

@flamedrag18 the pictures starting at 2:04 show where I installed an eye for whinching the boat on the trailer or up a hill. Bolted through and works well.
