@APAKane Because when you take a crazy person, add alcohol and or drugs, and give em a gun, shit goes down, I don't blame em for having it, and hell, I'd rather go home at night, then some idiot with a gun

I certainly hope so... I can only imagine the kind of crime it would take for them to upgrade.... or the kind of oppression it would take for them to have more hardware to keep us down..
Neither are pleasant thoughts :P

@MurlocSniper I guess we'll just hope it stays that way.

@APAKane
Think you misunderstood me :P I was referring to the fact that the units used by the RCMP's tactical unit and some other police units are unarmed and technically not IFVs... just a personnel carrier.
The reason being that HAVING even the most basic armament on then (usually a machine gun) is too dangerous and not the purpose for which they serve.
Long story short, police don't need IFVs - just an armored transport/breaching vehicle.

@MurlocSniper Where did you get your infos regarding the durability of LAVs? They can indeed withstand machine gun fire.
Also, machine guns are small arms along with all other rifles, pistols and shotguns.
These vehicles were designed for defeating lightly armed infantry units of enemy armies.

@APAKane
It's an armored transport. They're generally unarmed. Even something basic like a high calibre machine gun has an extreme risk of over-penetration and causing collateral damage within an urban environment.
The transport is simply a safe way of moving a group of officers into striking distance without exposing them to fire as that sort of vehicle is completely immune to small-arms fire.

WHY DO THE POLICE NEED INFANTRY FIGHTING VEHICLES?
