  • RIP Mr Dyk - thanks for the memories and insight.

  • So many Maine radio stations (I'm looking at you, WCYY!) and now television are becoming obscure and low power now. What's next? WHOM in NH falling out of range because of some FCC requirement?

  • Good Old Bob Dyk RIP, You'll Be Missed! I've just found out this evening when I went to the Kennebec Journal & The Portland Press Herald, that he passed away yesterday on 22/3/08 of Cancer. God Bless This Man!!!! Anita Jean Augenti Garner, NC

P.S. This is just a little note to Youtubers out there!

  • Seems to me like as if though, they might be just asking for trouble. They should have followed the rules of the FCC, and they should have left it alone in to it's original place in the begining. When I went to visit one of relatives in Maine, I've watched news channel 8, it littery took over about half of the state of Vermont. In this older one back in the 80's, you can see Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

  • I wonder how WMTW is going to get away with leaving a good chunk of Vermont without an ABC white-zone signal in the digital era. Under the papers submitted to FCC... WMTW said they were moving to down country in Maine because of a lack of commercial power... which now exists on Mt Washington

  • Due to what might turn into a lawsuit.. WMTW may once again have to put up either a relay transmitter where the old transmitter was or put up individual relays up and down the Connecticut river... people are just now putting up outdoor antennas in the areas north of White River and noticing no digital WMTW.

  • I fondly being able to watch WMTW in Vermont... back when we still could. WMTW is no longer on the dial due its transmitter being down in Maine and not on the Rockpile.

  • I remembered watching WMTW-TV8 news when my parents and I, used to live in Center Ossipee, NH. We didn't have cable television baack then growing up in the 80s' but, we've only had 3 channels such as, WCSH, WMTW,(sometimes WCBB - PBS ch 10) and last but not least WGME. All of those stations came right out of Portland, Maine., through our own living rooms! I hope that you've got some more from the earlier years it's great!

  • Whoops... meant to say any "other" material from this time? BTW, It's FPG- the person who sent you some of the more up to date WMTW snaps a year or two back.

Funny that in that time they once again have a map of ME & NH in the background. No VT this time obviously... heh

  • Bob Dyk! I had the pleasure of meeting with him in the past during my radio work in Portland. Do you have any older WMTW material?
