Specialists from DEKRA tested the world premiere of the first adaptive cruise control system with Stop&Go from BMW in a situation that simulates a real accident. The system presented a considerable improvement compared to an identical vehicle which is not equipped with it.

Initial speed was 64 Km/h, impact speed at 40 Km/h

  • LOL I guess the brake assistant didn't work very well

  • @DutchX5

The idea was to see how far down from 64 Km/h they could get.

  • Video description makes no sense - but it works, I guess.

  • @AMGrulz

I edited it a bit. Is it a little more understandable?

  • @CarPro1993 NO

  • @Bolerophon

  • @DutchX5 Plus this isnt brake assit that trys to prevent a crash like in the volvos... which the cars be to driving like under 25 mph. This system just is to help reduce the impact and severity of a crash.

  • @DutchX5 It was towned .. So brak or not brake it would hit him. Believe me it makes a difrence :)

  • @CarPro1993 I did just like a billion others. :)

  • fail a frenado

  • thats for the trash now

  • @pear928 Not much damage. New Bonnet, lights, bumper and side corners, but other than that I think the internal structure wasn't affected at all.

  • I guess the point of brake assist is to try to lessen the severity of the crash by trying to slow down

  • wow im impresed ! a lot less damage :] i wish my car has this sort of programe, i think it will save a lot of money in city fender bender :] or low speed crashes

  • @DutchX5 have you heard about a law that is called Inertia? it's quite important... you might want to look it up :P

  • @0:40 kidney grill turns into a projectile

  • @DutchX5 Yes. And what it doesnt show is the seatbelts pre-tensioning, air bags arming and suspension adjustments PRIOR to impact. Its a very advanced system.

  • they should've also crashed a control car (without brake assist) to see the difference.

  • BWM employe : Shit , it was the BMW of the bose

  • OMG...This car...in this color is sooo beautiful. It's beautiful even while crashing. Just so smooth yet aggressive. Take that Bangle.

  • @CarPro1993 oh ok. Just curious, does the brake assist work even if you don't activate "active cruise control"? Like if you're just cruising around normally and don't see the traffic stop, will it brake for you?

  • That's crazy...
