@toby099 why don't you just respect each of their skills.

I like Satriani, Eddie and Nokie Edwards. But nothing, and I mean NOTHING gives me the chills like I get when I listen to this.

Joe Satriani disliked this.

Seriously, with all the frippery and finger-work of speed guitar that rules modern fret work, what are we to judge against? Those that make their fingers work over-time, or those that 'feel' every note? What's more, Jimi is singing for those that FACE the machine gun, the 'so-called' enemy. (no matter who 'they' are, they are the under-dogs. And everyone on this planet can feel that in every note.)
These nine minutes surpass damn near every quitar solo ever played.

*copy-paste* Wiki
This solo is, "...widely considered one of the finest electric guitar performances in the history of recorded music."
And surely we can't take Wiki for any meaningful guide, but... 42?
The man took the horror of an entire generation (and all people who have seen the battlefield of any generation)... and played it on his guitar.

42 !???? Well...If you admit this top 50 is made by Justin Bieber I can agree with you...if you don't...just shut up ! Jimi is not the first, he's just over the top !!!

prob one of Jimi's best and longest solo's is "Stone Free" from the "Live at the Filmore east" double CD. Give it a listen
Fuck Joe Satriani, Van Halen. They're all speed and technique, zero emotion.

I still don't think the song is long enough.
