Bob gets a load of the freight trains and windmills at the Palm Springs, Calif. train station while awaiting the arrival of Amtrak's Sunset Limited, due at 5:06 p.m. Passengers are disillusioned when train arriving at 7:53 p.m. turns out to be another freight. Bob leaves at this point. Sunset Limited eventually shows up at 9:11 p.m., about seven hours after its scheduled departure from Los Angeles. Elderly passengers who have been standing around the platform for more than three hours could have spent that time boozing it up on Palm Canyon Drive. But they believed the ETAs supplied by the railroad. Part of series "Scenes of Daily Life."

  • I took the train in 2006 January and I never did it again. It was a loooooooooonnnng ride from Los Angeles to Palm Springs. Yes, my train was almost 3.5 hours late. I could drive back and forth from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for almost twice. The return trip from Palm Springs to Los Angeles was even worse. The train was over 6 hours late. When I got back to Los Angeles was 5pm. Take the bus, it is faster than Amtrak.

  • I grew up in palm springs about 2 miles from that station, hole in the wall, underground.

  • I loved your video and I admire your patience... the winds and the sand and the heat gets annoying especially if you are not from around there, but the sunset makes it up.

I will subscribe and I hope you make more videos like this, you should take a look at the Santa Ana train station... I like the Architecture of the place.
