How to use a tactile "bump" to help define the edge of a parking bay, rather than just using our eyes. This saves hassles and space for other people parking.

  • I am not sure of the econnomic benifit or even if a government organisation would have to pay. I have only looked at the fact that nearyl every day I am in an street that has high densities of people and parking is in specific spots, that someone parks inefficiently and I guess that they do that out of not knowing where the edge is and that that they are taking up extra space.

  • Doesn't this assume every vehicle has the same distance between rear axle and back of the car? I would think a hatchback is quite different to a sedan, which is in turn quite different to a truck.

  • @robertdapice That is true, so it may not be an innovation for all parking edges. I observe in Sydney that the edge of a row of parking (parallel) and the corner of a street is about 5 metres and that the "over hang" (meaning the distance between the axle and the back) of the car is say 1 metre for a small car and 2.5 metres for a big truck (guess). If that is all that is hanging over the edge of the mound that should be safe. This would only work if the mound is on the end. Your thoughts?

  • If City has to pay for this road upgrade what is economic benefit?

Bumps reduce road space. What about am-pm clearways, bus lines? Will they fill bumps when driving or approaching a bus stop?!
