No media should ever nor does it ever NEED public funding.... it is media... leave state influence out of it, let that billion or so dollars go to somewhere more useful and practical to the nation rather than to media sponsership

Well...they're headline news and Toronto news channels. CBC Newsworld is the only CNN-style channel in Canada, as per CRTC rules.
