  • Use the natural wood golf tees. These are usually made for hardwood. I have used these many times to rehang doors, as well as other "screw" ups. You need to drill out the holes slightly to accommodate the tee but it works like a champ.

  • Amazing! I didn't have any toothpicks around, so I used matches instead; they worked just as well. Thanks for the terrific tip!

  • Great suggestion to use a plastic wall anchor! The hardware on the front door of my house has been loose for years and now, finally, I was able to make it solid again in 15 minutes. In my case, I had to cut the tips off of the anchors because otherwise they would bottom-out on the metal mechanism inside the wood door. This was simple to do with a pair of side cutters. Thanks again!
