also I coach my athlets not to touch the ground or lines with their hands as it takes away valuable time from the result when timed and in real football or soccer or any field sport, players do not touch the ground to make a step or change in direction. I also get them to understand that it is change of direction and stepping in real game situations and therefore only quickly cross lines or cones with thier feet with correct leaning angles etc..

Also, if you attempt a crouch start, make sure that your shins and feet and arms are positioned correctly for maximum takeoff thrust and momentum and that your feet are not so far apart in the crouch position as this would inhibit your reaction time and show up in the end time result.
