Boric Acid mixed with sugar and water and soaked in cotton balls controls ant infestations. Takes 3 to 5 days Refresh bait at least twice. Follow package warnings. Avoid contact. Protect children and pets. Boric Acid while toxic is relatively safe and cheap compared with most insecticides. In many ways it is more effective since it kills the queen. Boric Acid may also be purchased online.

  • Don't know if you have Dollar Tree stores or 99 Cents Stores near you, but both sell a medicated body powder made of talc that has eucalyptus oil in it. It comes in a brownish/orange plastic squeeze bottle. Ants hate the stuff. You can spread it safely around in your house wherever you see them and keep them from invading your quarters. It's an easy matter to vacuum it up. Whatever you do, don't get powders made of corn starch. Ants will probably consider that food.

  • Excellent suggestions, especially the aluminum foil squares.

  • For best results, you might want to refresh the bait every few days. Sometimes just a little water poured over the bait and then inverting it will work if the sun is drying it out.

  • @skipapa123 I need help, i accidentaly touched the boric acid, i washed it, clean it, with salt, it has no problems but im worried cause you said it will eventually damage my nervous system, can you help? i dont have much time!!!

  • @TheBanshoTenin Relax. Don't worry. You did the right thing and washed it off. Boric acid kills ants when they eat it. You simply touched it. I've made that mistake many times. So have thousands of people. The skin is an effective barrier to to any small amount of toxicity in this relatively mild poison. Wikipedia describes boric acid as 30% more toxic than table salt. Boric acid diluted in water has been used to cleanse wounds and eyes in humans.

  • @TheBanshoTenin lmao thanks for the laugh - now are you okay lol

  • I liked the last line. "they will simply enjoy your suger" lol

  • I go the boric acid and Walgreens Drugstore. Four bucks and some change for 16 ounces. Same brand as in your video at 1:25 in. Im watching carpenter ants sucking on it and going back into the base plug of my living room. Im hunting carpenter ants. I have a feeling I have a nest in the wall somewhere. Its too cold out for them to be coming in from outside. NE Ohio.

  • A couple of tips I can offer, is to lay baits at sunset. Ants are far more active and seem to feed more at night. Also position baits in areas that are shaded/cooler during the day...it will encourage more ant traffic to the bait and it won't dry out as fast. I put my cotton balls onto small squares of aluminium foil, it prevents the liquid from being absorbed into porous sufaces like concrete etc. keeping them fresher for longer, they can also be picked up easily and cleanly for disposal.

  • Thanks. I'm gonna try this.
