The goal of IQ2 US is to raise the level of public discourse on our most challenging issues. To provide a new forum for intelligent discussion, grounded in facts and informed by reasoned analysis. To transcend the toxically emotional and the reflexively ideological. To encourage recognition that the opposing side has intellectually respectable views. To engage the live audience as active participants who will ask questions and decide which speakers have carried the day by voting on the motions both before and after the debate.

  • Nell Minow: "I was in OMB. . . One of the big shocks of my life was all these people who espoused and rhapsodized about the free market - kept trooping over to me to get me to give them limits on liability or erect barriers to entry."

  • She is not even making arguments - instead she just points out that wall st was/is greedy. Of course they are, nobody is debating that. The fact that Dick Fuld made a lot of money is not the reason we had a housing and credit bubble. She is constantly naming symptoms of the problem without addressing the underlying imbalances, which were brought about by government intervention in the financial system.

  • i think you people are just being unfair to this lady...she is saying what Wallstreet was responsible for. I agree that she needs to put partial blame on Washington too. Is that why you people disapprove of her arguement/ dont you agree with what she said about WallStreet?

  • I am proud to say I did not study economics at the school she teaches at

  • I don't like how she begins with the nonsense about how it's "everyone's fault". She wants to group a common homeowner or homeseeker or worker with the elite assclowns in NY and DC. The debate is more or less ridiculous ... both Wall Street and Washington are more or less the same. Two cheeks of the same booty. They're interests line up, they support each other, they are wedded to the same presuppositions and biases, putting short term elite capitalist profit before the rest of us.

  • her argument is horrible...i feel almost embarrassed that she is in washington

  • yea, she is so filled with sophomoric logic and emotional fervor, how can anyone take that to be a credible argument.

  • What a terrible, piss poor argument.

  • Wall Street IS Washington. Get it. Good.
