This is a really fun song led by Paul Williams before David Ruffin joined the group. I first heard the recorded studio version which is great, but htere is something about this live one which I really love.
Also, it raises alot of speculation about the solo ad lib peice, is it a young Eddie Kendricks before his voice settled to the falsetto we all know, or is it the elusive original group member Elbridge Bryant? I personally think it could be Elbridge because, although I haven't heard him sing anything else before solo, it just doesn't sound quite sweet enough for Eddie.
Either way I like it alot, regardless of who it is. But lets get some discussion going, comment and rate on the video tell me who you think it is and send it to other Temps fans to see who they think it could be! Better still send it to Otis Williams if you know him and get him to settle once and for all, if anyone knows it will be him!
@MistaStayPuff That's the way I would describe Paul's voice. He put so much feeling into his songs. Too bad he was not given more leads.

Paul was the best ever. May he rest in peace. I love his soulful hurt feeling in his music. We miss you Paul.

@luvoriginaltemps I wish more people will do what you did and listen to the songs where Eddie sings tenor. It sounds nothing like this.

@stizzle861211 You are a liar. David was not in the group when this was first recorded in 1962.

I find it hard to believe that any of you had actually heard Eddie sing in his tenor voice if you believe that he is the one singing on this song. This does't sound like Eddie. If you listen to this and DREAM COME TRUE, or MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE you will hear VAST differences in eddies normal voice. If you listen to Al singing in ISN'T SHE PRETTY you can hear that his voice then and IN THIS SONG sound EXACTLY ALIKE.

Its clearly Eddie Kendricks sharing lead wit paul and ad libbing. Al Bryant has an operatic tenor along wit sounding like eddie!

@Renaissanceman1000 The book that I read was "Ain't to proud to Beg" by Mark Ribowsky. This book was published in 2010

Throughout his career, whenever Eddie sang in his natural voice, many listeners, unfamiliar with the full range of his voice, had no idea it was Eddie, unless he used his falsetto. When he sang in a softer head tone, he could transition into his falsetto, smoothly, almost imperceivable.

Al can be heard in the background. He's singing the second tenor part. His natural voice sounds a lot like Eddie's natural tenor, and his falsetto sounds similar. This happens with voices of similar range. The Tempts had a nice homogenized blend, sounding alike at times. But Al was not a lead singer for the Tempts. You have to listen to the vocal stylings of the lead singers. Eddie's pace, phrasing, and vocal quality is unmistakable.
