Part 2 of a digital painting tutorial using Corel Painter and a Wacom pen tablet. Part 1 began with the concept or idea and progressing to a grayscale painting. This part adds more details and refines the dragon into a polished final form, which will be colored in Part 3.

*Note: I use one layer to paint my portraits just like in traditional art. This is especially necessary when working with certain brushes such as the digital watercolors or tinting brushes, which create undesired effects if painted on a new transparent layer. Painting on one layer also helps in honing my painting skills and forces me to commit & make corrections in my paintings which in turn creates a learning experience every time.

  • Please answer! I'm looking for a good program for digital art and I'm not sure about which one is good and which one is too expensive and stuff. So, do you think that corel is a good program or are there better ones and which are these? Thank you very much!

  • @XXNichtlustigXX Corel is the best that's out there for digital painting. They have a Corel Painter Essentials program, which is cheaper than the full version, and it comes bundled with certain tablets.

  • nice Video Tutorial, it's Helping me to do my jobs in Corel painter!

  • @shinigamilucas So glad to hear that! I plan to make more videos in the future so others can also benefit from using this program.

  • I liked the music!! Who plays it??? :) Nice painting by the way ^^

  • @JSolorzanoArts1 Oh wow, that's great! Thanks again!

  • Love the tutorial. Very good pace and easy to understand and I digged the music you provided also. I have learned a lot here and will implement my new found knowledge to my arsenal of techniques :-)

  • What music is used in this?

  • No offense, but I found the music to be rather irritating and repetitive.

Visually though, it's a VERY nice tutorial. :)

  • I want.

  • wow.

  • Great video, this is exactly what people need... I wanted to try work on Painter instead of PS but I couldnt find a good enough tutorial so I thought it sucked... After seeing your video I understood some of the many possible ways to work with the brushes! Thank you very much! :)
