HP refreshes the popular Officejet Pro 8500 Series with a new touch screen, a 14" platen and cutting-edge ePrint and downloadable Print Apps. The result is a highly competitive package with office-level features and a low Cost Per Page and Total Cost of Ownership. Part I of the series includes a device overview and the unboxing. Part II includes unwrapping of the device to power on. Part III includes the power on to printing a test page.

  • What doesn't work? Perhaps we can help? One thing with ink-jet printers is that the more you use them, the better they work. If they sit around too long, many of them (particularly older models) have problems with ink drying up and fouling the print heads. Another tip is to leave the power on (they use very little energy and will "sleep") with recent printers so that they will automatically monitor print head health and perform any necessary adjustments.

You can pull the front of tray 1 outwards in order to make room for the longer 14" paper. Thanks for watching!

  • Hay un chip en cada uno de los cartuchos diseñados para evitar volver a cargar. Recuerde que el 8500A tiene una de costo más bajo por página en toda la industria. Los cartuchos pueden parecer caros pero que tienen un alto rendimiento.

There is a chip in each of the cartridges designed to prevent reloading. Remember that the 8500A has one of the lowest cost per page in the entire industry. The cartridges may seem expensive but they have a high yield.

  • I want to buy this printer. I think it's perfect for me and home. I have one question. What is the think on 1:20? What is it for? Sorry if my english isn't good. Tnx..

  • @GomY133 Those are the ink nozzles. Some printers have them built into disposable ink cartridges. The HP arrangement saves money and resources because the print-head is long--lasting and doesn't need to be trashed each time an ink cartridge runs out.

  • @jophster - I just looked at HP's ePrint app center and was surprised that there wasn't "an app for that." I was almost certain that there was a Google docs app but I couldn't locate it? C'mon HP?

Anway, you could store the PDF on your phone and send it to the 8500A as an e-mail attachment using ePrint?

  • One question. Can you print PDF documents directly to the printer? Need to print the same PDF daily would be great if i could do this without sending it from my mac!
