During Thurit's visit to Kenya she came across a self help project run by Malewa and Good Earth Trust, where a demonstration unit was build to show Kenyans and anyone else who might be interested how one can build a solid house with home made bricks. This method is very cost effective and can be used in very rural locations.
The demonstration unit invites everyone to watch and learn how to make these interlocking bricks.
Thurit was very excited because now she knows how she is going to build houses and extend the school she want to provide for the community in Konya. She also wants to provide clean water and improve on the communities agricultural skills.
Please help Thurit fulfill her dream of a happy Konya community by donating to her charity

  • @cskjain yes please send links. I am attempting to learn to make bricks myself. Thanks

  • @mozartgenetics any kind of soil should fit our needs... I'm from OK, now live in NC.. I would suggest adding gypsum and lime... available for $50-60 / ton... gypsum and lime act as binder just like cement.... I do have links to a couple of videos that show you how to make them... msg me if you need'em..

  • This is a wonderful concept. As the economy of the USA and the world is reduced to rubble we will need to get back to producing our own resources. However, for those of us who may not live near a good soil type. I live in West Virginia USA and have access to only my yard. Do we need a certain type of soil to make the bricks? Any suggestions? Thank you.

  • Check out Mother Earth News' website. Lots of good articles on living well on very little cash, including building. One about a guy in ID who used sawdust as part of the filler for making concrete for the walls & floors. It was lighter and had better 'R' value, and held up. Other great ideas there, too. Best of luck.

  • Would this type of brick work well for eastern washington?

Near Curlew, wa. I bought land there but cannot afford to build anything.
