The Phil Silvers Show ran on CBS from 1955-59. The military comedy sitcom was produced by Nat Hiken who would go on to do Car 54 Where are You?, and was the inspiration for many other military comedies including McHale's Navy a few years later. This open/close is from 1956. Visit www.dougquick.com
I was 10 years old watching this show. Believe it or not, 8 years later I joined the U.S.Army, and I loved it. It was difficult, but, The Army took care of me. And I lived in the Sgt. Bilko barkets. and it was great. Sgt. Bilko show had an infulince on me, as did, "Combat" and other movies such as 12 o'clock hi, and others. Rest their SOUL's Thanks for posting.

@marioTmaggot I second that. Most shows just 'mark' time.

This show was very entertaining to me as a kid i the 80's. Most shows don't stand the test of time anymore.
