Tony Dew was one of the first rocking horse makers, and there were only a handful of restorers/makers around in the early '80's and now loads of people have jumped on the bandwagon! Since the early days, prices for old ones have risen to stupid amounts-BUT there are not that many good, old horses around-people quite rightly hang on to them. This carving looks easy, but it isn't! hot knife through butter it may look, but it's the shaping that is hard! therein lies the skill.
