Zeus was born on March 23 1987 he passed away
on June 23, 2009 at the age of 22. He was always a
good and trusted friend and partner. He was always
kind and thoughtful about his rider and always took
care of them no matter who it was.

The Levade performed with only hand gestures.
The requirements of the liberty levade
are the same as any other levade.
The horse must not exceed 30 degrees in
height to the ground and lower the hocks
while holding this position for a few
seconds. It is always a plus if they
tuck their lower legs.
The amount of time that the horse can
hold this position will be determined
by their conformation and muscular
abilities.

  • @Marixxen2 - Before training the high school movements, such as levade, it is best to develop both the horse's athletic abilites (muscle development, balance, etc) and the relationship between the horse and rider first. Try reading 'The Complete Training of the Horse and Rider' by Col. Alois Podhajsky, formerly director of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna. It is more than just 'knowing dressage' or certain cues. You will enjoy the book!

  • @samE9 - Yes, but the video did not say this was how he trained the animal, (though much can be done with the touch of the hands). A horse 'trained' through fear or pain will not be this relaxed and willing to perform with just the touch of the hand. Isn't it lovely to see what can be done through working with the horse?!

  • @samE9 I think you are right obviously there is a reason why they bring the horse to same spot where all the ties are, that is not how they taught that horse the levade, they surely used equipment.

  • @LifeLovinCowgirl I have seen the same horse doing levade in that arena, in a bridle and gear, with a whip being used to bring his hindquarters under him. I'm not saying the use of the whip is cruel, it was done very gently, but I do think there is more to training levade than just touching the horses chest...

  • Wow with just the touch of your hands!

  • How do you get startet at the levade? i've thought my horse to get hes hindquartes far under himselves, but i don't know know how to get to the levade ?????

  • How sweet, it looks like he is lifting the horse!

  • wonderful work!!!!! amazing!

  • beautiful work!
