Successful launch (and recovery) of an Estes Comanche-3 Rocket by Alex Wheelock on June 16, 2007. Note: The appearance of the firetruck was purely coincidental....
@Andyterranbase1 Estes Black Powder Model Rocket Engines use an electronic match for ignition, made from two wire leads having a nichrome wire bridge soldered across. The bridge is coated with phosphorous. The phosphorous catches on fire when current passes through the high resistance nichrome. The black powder inside the engine then burns. Model Rocketry IS VERY SAFE. I have suffered burns by NOT FOLLOWING RULES!!! TRUTH serves the sport better. As for chess...It is safer...boring...but safer.
@drugsandsolvents for one rockets don't use fire for ignition nor do they use fire for propulsion, this is the common misconception that has plagued the sport for years, rockets use rapidly expanding gas as a propellant and is ignited by a carbon tipped copper circuit. Please spread the work, there are more injuries in the sport of chess than in model rocketry.
Great footage! We're broadcasting Rocket launches live for a new game from Intel and Dick Smith called turboboost touchdown. We're using 5 cameras + 2 onboard cameras and 9 different C,D and E sized fully decal'd rockets.
What we want in the UK is rockets bigger than D12 that u can have without special arrangements, nah we dont, 3 d12 engines will put a 100g or more weight over a mile away. Kids dont need such range really I kinda see why.. top vid tho good shot :)
learn to use a fucking camera... retard
