Building off of the work from Milton H. Erickson, NLP Comprehensive offers an entire section in "The Living Encyclopedia of NLP" dedicated to the Milton-Model, which includes: noticing HOW others communicate with us, can in turn, teach us HOW to effectively communicate with others.

  • @cgabrielac That's exactly my point. We totally agree on this one. It HAS many many aspects that are involved in processes. If you listen to Grinder, he claims NLP at its heart, is modeling. Michael Breen thinks of it as a set of tools. Bandler explains it as "the structure of subjective experience and what can be calculated from it.". So it seems to me that is isn't any of those labels UNTIL you use the principles of NLP in those contexts. That's what I'm trying communicate. What do you think?

  • Hi xirishmagicx, I disagree with you, NLP has techniques, also has principles, and some more, behaviors....and lot more... :)

and yes, I know it is not a "thing" ... I'm not too sure if it is not a tool, depends on the point of view....

  • @cgabrielac I don't know I kinda disagree. True a model of language was created that's based on his language, true Milton Erickson was a fantastic hypnotist who got great results and double true that his work strongly influenced the hypnosis community BUT I don't know if you realize this but NLP is not a thing, procedure, way of thinking or tool. It's a bunch of principles which can CREATE all those things when using the technology is any given context. NLP consists of principles. Not techniques

  • PaulGreen you have no clue what you are talking about, you need to study more or shut up insted doing stupid comments.

NLP is based in Erickson, Satir and Perls, so Erickson has lot to do with NLP.

Grow up, learn to read, buy a nlp book, study...THEN! do comments....don't make wrong people doesn't understand this subject don't be a moron

  • If you want to increase sales nlp might work, but it has a very'back door'image in my humble opinion, its like therapy's ugly cousin, quite productive but mostly annoying,as a stand alone product. its a great seller, but,it can teach a person about language uses, and give a fresh outlook, but it has limited 'programming' abilty without exploration of why things need addressing in the first place.a bit like painting over the cracks of an old car hoping nobody will see them.how are you so curious?

  • NLP - Neuro Liguistic PROGRAMMING.. okay come here sit down let me programme your mind??

    ERM, let me think?

  • NLP is going on all the time, it is a matter of who is programming and who is being programmed, charles faulkner is an amazing practitioner and is very sincere, responsible, and caring.

  • I think you'll find that what you have described is Hypnosis and therapy, some hypnotherapists call it hypnotherapy!

NLP is mere suggestion, as you correctly state while in a momentary state... of hypnosis... Its a part of Hypnotherapy.

  • Erickson had a lot to do with NLP. He didn't practice it directly, but he used the techniques that lead to understanding of how NL{P works. It's the EXACT same thing. Erickson noticed that when you are surprised, your mind goes into a momentary trance, and can follow a suggestion in that instance. NLP is using the idea of the surprise to link a thought or idea to a surprising action (but a subtle one you can repeat without getting the conscious's attention).

  • THAT WAS WAK
