georgous horse. IMO draft breeds are the best horse to have. Power, presence, calm natured, multi talented horses.

That Belgian is so pretty. I'm taking my riding teacher's Belgian to my first show. She even gave me the idea to do it. He is young but is near bomb proof. And he is really smooth.

To this completely clueless dude who has never owned a horse, but has ridden a few commercial trail horses (who will follow the trail whether you're there or not). . . I love how a decent rider can command all sorts of movements without overtly showing any clues that he/she is doing anything. From my untrained perspective it looks like a sort of mind-meld between you and the horse!
I have horse envy!!

@365HorseJumper I also have a belgian mare - very smooth, powerful gates with HUGE movement. Amazing temperment. For example yesterday someone was doing some repairs and was using a drill - she didn't even flinch let alone spook - she just made desgisted face and kept working. They are very smart and cuddly with lots of personallity and huge hearts.

I'm training a 18.2h belgian gelding and I know how hard it is to get them to listen, so good for you! However, she's got her mouth open half the time, which suggests that you're pulling too hard on her mouth. Try maybe getting her a different bit so that she feels more pressure without you having to pull on her at all.

@365HorseJumper
Belgians are GREAT horses, their temperament is second to none, and they truly take care of their rider. However, she in no way is "smooth" like a Quarter horse. She has a LOT of movement making her great for Dressage. She is MUCH better now, and I am buying a Dressage saddle for her, and we are going to start showing! I'm so excited! When you are buying this mare, keep in mind that she wont fit in every trailer, and most of your tack needs to be replaced with bigger stuff!

Thank you! She was not rounding out as I had wished, and she was a little bit rushed. I have been working on those things, and she has improved a lot! I should find someone to video me again so you can see the improvement!

My belgain trips, she has good hoofs but I think it may be the way the farrier is trimming her hoofs. Do you have any problems with your horse tripping?

Yes, she trips a lot! Her hooves are always trimmed up, and she still isn't that sure footed out on the trail. She makes me really nervous sometimes, and she has gone down to her knees more that once!
