Ciao!

Here's a quick tutorial to show you how to tweak windows 7 a bit to better suit your netbook. Hardware used here is an Acer Aspire One D250 (stock) and the benchmark is Passmark Performance Test. The netbook is about 5-10% better across the board with the adjustment, but it is most apparent in 2d video applications like web browsing and photo viewing.

Main drawback is that it won't "feel" as nice, but it's a netbook! Any extra performance is sorely needed!

Will be uploading more netbook-specific videos in the near future. Thanks for checking it out.

  • Good informative video. Did your Acer come with Windows 7 as stock or did you upgrade from the XP supplied on the units in Europe.

  • Hey,

Stock it came with XP. Installed Windows 7 by external (internal Sata CD ROM with a usb sata adapter). It installed very quickly (<30 minutes), and without issue.

  • TRANSCRIBE AUDIO CAPTIONS... ROOFL

  • @straix12 that's weird, i did the same thing as you, and my computer seems noticeably faster. huh

  • hey you have one like mine but white

  • Okay so I ran the test and after it finished, it said I had a baseline of 200.9. Is that good or bad? What does that mean?

  • I can't hear you :(

  • I don't know. All time I check box with "Adjust for best performance" my computer freezes, games lagging little bit etc. When I check "Adjust for best apperance" my computer runs extremely fast, nothing freezes etc. If this change anything, then here is my computer specs:

    Intel Celeron 1.6 GHz

    1.5 GB RAM (233 MHz)

    Intel GMA 950 (256 MB)

    Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.

And adjusting for best apperance increases FPS in games for about 10 - 20 FPS than adjusting for performance.

    Sorry for my bad English

  • Thanks a lot dude..... I really needed this.

  • how about the ram usage of the netbook ?
