Guitar test: Charvel SoCal Type1, USA Production Series, batch number 6.
I am using the free downloadable "For the Love of God" Backing Track as a vehicle just to demo the video.
THIS IS NOT A COVER, in any way.
I am not trying to copy Steve Vai.
I am not trying to do a better version of the song.
I am not trying to ruin the song.
JUST JAMMING, BRO.

Gear:

- Guitar: Charvel SoCal Type1, USA Production Series, batch number 6. Pickups are: Dimarzio Evolution (neck) and Dimarzio Tone Zone (bridge)
- Amp: No amp. IK Multimedia Amplitube 2, modeling Vox AC30 for clean takes and Marshall 100W for distortion + Ibanez Tubescreamer effect.
- Pre-amp: SPL Track One, just to adjust the gain for recording to Pro-Tools.
- DAW: Pro Tools 8.0LE
- Audio Interface: Digidesign Rack 003

Plugins:
- Guitar track: Sonnox EQ (to roll out basses and cut bass and drums frequencies) + IK Multimedia Fairchild 670 (light compression) + Sonnox Reverb (to fit the guitar in the right deep).
- Master Channel: Sonnox Inflator + IK Multimedia Pulteq EQP-1A + Sonnor Dynamics + Sonnor Limiter

Backing Track: Free downloadable "For the Love of God" by Steve Vai.

  • Increible el tono de esa guitarra amigo! Felicitaciones!

Que programa usaste para editar el video?

  • @Metallicgnacio

    Gracias por las flores!.

Si no me equivoco Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0

  • Cool dude.

  • @abutomatto

Thanks, mate!. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • I love all these 80's guitar brands, such as Kramer, Charvel, Hamer, all that, they were masterbuilt.

  • @Macsk8ing

Agree but, this guitar is really a modern one (I think, from 2009).

It corresponds to batch #6 of the cheap American Production Line (before being moved overseas, to Japan)

  • Fantastic performance, congrats!

I just ordered one of the USA So Cals from UK after a LOT of searching (it was the last one available from UK shops I think). I know the Pro Mods are excellent also, but a USA Production just has that aura of the 'real thing'.

Have you tried the San DImas Style 1 with Seymoure Duncan's by any chance? It was on my list but decided on the DiMarzios, more my line of sound. If I had cash I'd go for a San D S1 just for the hell of it, who knows, maybe a pro-mod! ;)

  • greate playing, absolutely shitty video effects.

I think that last USA batch was the 7th but, this last didn't included the purple one.

It costed exactly 1000 EUR but, believe me, the Japanesse ones are second to none.

    I checked mine against a friend's Japanesse .

No difference at all, about 300 EUR cheaper and, the Japanesse one even includes a hard case.

If I was myself today, I'd go for a Japanesse one.

  • you've got the most beautiful charvel my friend con grats:how much you paid for it.?here in europe i cant find that colour..

  • @SpookeyEyeGhost

    Thanks, mate!

It's a real demo of pickups and guitar, anyway. Not a cover.

  • Good job! I like how you fip everyone off while pointing to the pickups. Not intentional, i know. 4 more months till i get me an So-Cal...MJP though.
