A Tribute to the United States Military. Art is often open to interpretation. However, the vagueness of art often lays a trap for the naive. "Sky Pilot" explores the irony and complexity of war. The Sky Pilot, a military chaplain, struggles with the same thoughts uttered by the preacher in the movie High Noon, "The Commandments say Thou shalt not kill, but we hire men to go out and do it." As the Sky Pilot stays behind to contemplate these words and the horror of war, his flock marches into battle. Alone, he fears not, for with God you are never alone. His flock also understands they are not alone. Therefore, they have the courage to face the enemy. Was it all worth it? Are these words anti-war? On the contrary, "Only time it will tell". Not the false prophets of today. However, therein lies the uncertainty of going to fight a war. The certainty is that, "The fate of your country lies in your young hands." Not in the hands of those who stay behind to protest. "They return from the battle with tears in their eyes", but knowing they have done their duty. The Sky Pilot comes to comfort them. He and his flock have achieved the highest of Honors. They have not run from their duty. However, he can "never reach the sky" because his duty is here on earth. Anyone who has returned with the tears of battle in their eyes understands this.

  • Haunting video, very sad.......so sorry it ended with George Bush's photo - he is a war criminal!

  • Sky pilots were the priests who encouraged the killing in all foolish wars.

  • Garbage .. Eric Burdon hated war and this is very much an anti-war song. There is no room for interpretation of this song at all. I knew Eric and this song was not to praise war. It was meant to tell the killers/military to think about what they are still doing today. And stop blaming God or assisting God as God does not need your advice!

  • @quicksiliva

That does not with mad dogs.

If you roll over they will own you and your family.

  • @quicksiliva So it was wrong to stop Hitler? JUDGE NOT, LEST YE BE JUDGED.

  • @windymeadows2 Thou Shall not Kill..... NO excuses! God have mercy on your evil soul. You will join all soldiers in hell, because you support the devil.

  • @quicksiliva the 10 commands were misquoated. it is "tho shall not murder" after the 10 were written god led the jews to the promised land and ordered them to kill and destroy everything in that land. babies, women and the animals. desteroy all buildings.look it up, it's called the "bath" what about christians? you should get down on your knees and bless the ground our military men and women walk on. with out them you would be saying "hail hitler" instead of saying anything you want.
