@shaybeck2218 your in the same boat as me sister. My great grandfather was full blooded choctaw and I am having trouble finding out history on his family (besides his sister who is on the dawes). I knew my great grandfather and my great grandmother (who is thought to have been also part indian). They bot hdid not die until i was about 8 or 9. I called them grandma and papa woof woof for they raised dogs. I am proud to be part choctaw and possibly other tribe?

I'm also losing blood somewhere! My great grandmother was full blooded cherokee. I have traced her only so far back and can't find anymore info on her.  It's very hard to do your ancestry with missing pieces because of what happened. All I need to know is that I'm part cherokee and proud of it. Would have like to had some more history on her though just to know the kind of person she was. Love the songs and dances though. Something draws them to me.

The Eastern Band of cherokee never left there land. They were the only Tribe of cherokee to stay behind and fight for what was thears.

I don't expect a reply to this, I see you wrote it 9 months ago but as a history buff, I'd love to see your references for this. I'm absolutely NOT doubting this story, but I require at least evidence before I myself might pass this legend along.
