  • How about spending 80% on defense, spend the rest on infrastructure roads ect, and and keep TOTAL spending (ie wasteful spending) low? 80% of an 800 billion budget is a lot better than 20% of a 3 trillion dollar budget.

  • Our top priority should be our defense. We don't live in a peaceful world.

  • This is some serious bullshit. You can manipulate the statistics by saying "the total of national wealth" and not clarifying your meaning, sure. More than 20% of the US budget every year goes to defense. Almost $700 billion, several hundred billion more than any other country.

  • This is bullshit. Federal Reserve System has recently put America in 28 TRILLION dollars of //additional// debt, and we have unfunded mandates to cover derivatives losses out to over 200 TRILLION dollars.

Corporations that produce military hardware receive a big-big chunk of that under the table funding, laundered through the Debt Syndicate banks.

  • @dac8555 and they left out the fact actually how much it actually is $663.8 billion. which is still more than the top 12 other country's budget combined... And that is the Real facts. When was the last time we were invaded... yeah DEFENSE is the only thing we actually haven't used in the past 10 years. 4% isn't alot till you look at the actual number

  • You can not follow god and believe in killing. If you believe then you will beat your sword into a plow. Meaning help people and that will make us safe. But we take and take. Remember what Jesus said, about stock piling money. Heaven is not for those. You have a choice and you have to chose.

  • bullshit...it is 4% of GDP. it is almost 30% of national budget. This is an outright lie and distortion.

  • america spends way to much on defence. could spend half as much and still be safe

  • Hacks. We spend more than the rest of the entire world combined!!!!!!!

You can not super inflate a budget than use a % to say a certain portion is to small. THAT IS INSANE and intellectually dishonest.

Anytime some one gives you a percent ask yourself why, it should send up a red flag!!!!

  • Luitenant Sargent. All do respect, and I was a first class petty officer in the USN during Reagan and appreciated my time in service . 4% does not sound like much of a GDP of 140 trillion on average. See warressistors org and zfacts com. Bushed raised it largely, as he attacked the wrong country after Cheney told him to. Haliburton, Cheney's company profitted in obscene ways. See war profiteering and why we fight on utube. Ron Paul thinks we should not have bases in 137 countries...me too.

  • actually, you need to research how much we put into DEFENSE, 20% was during reagans era, clinton cut it down, bush raised it slightly.

  • IF military spending is only 4% of our GDP, and Military spending is over half of our collected income tax, then this perspective is misleading. Close all overseas bases, bring the troups home, and mind our own business. See Ron Pauls "What If" video on youtube. Romans need to stay in Rome until we get our own economic mess in order.
