New South Wales reputation as a hub for new-world winemaking harks back to 1788, when a vineyard was planted in Sydney's historical Rocks neighbourhood. And while that first vineyard has long since disappeared, the state now boasts 14 internationally recognised cool-climate winemaking regions. Each produces different grape varietals with stories to unearth on some of the best wine tours in Australia. Regions include the Hunter Valley, Mudgee and Griffith
