1948 I think. Kathleen was probably Britain's greatest female singer. She sang folk to opera and was regarded as an exceptional singer. My mother saw her and came away from the concert with a sense of awe over the performance. Kathleen died young and I believe her bones were so riddled with cancer that her femur collapsed during a performance but she continued singing. Very sad that someone so talented should have her career cut short. She died in 1953.
What a glorious voice. I used to sing this at festivals, but my voice is nothing like that. I only wish it was!
