General Hospital - 1994-1995 Pt 5 Monica's Cancer

August 1994. Monica discusses her options with Dr. Cahill. Dr. Cahill is blunt and tells her she has no options other than surgery with the very possible end result of a mastectomy. Monica resists the idea of any surgery but finally agrees to it. Monica and Alan make love and Alan tells her what excites him about her and it's not about breasts.

(This is the famous "mirror" scene.)

I must say this one does leave you me speechless. I have got to say without a doubt that "The Mirror Scene" is my all time favorite. I mean no words need to be spoken its all in the gestures.

Easily one of the most gorgeous soap opera love scenes ever created. Monica's fear, Alan's determination to chase it away, the love between them, and all without words and in the reflection of a mirror. Just brilliant acting. Gods, I miss these two together onscreen.

I was young the first time I saw this, just a kid, so I didn't really understand. But now the thing that sticks out most aside from the love between Monica and Alan, is Dr. Cahill. I understand that a doctor can be blunt with another doctor, but shouldn't a friend be A LOT more sympathetic to a friend?

I also like how the writers let Monica recently even mention she had breast cancer. It ashame she couldn't have been alittle comfort to Alexis when she went her cancer ordeal.
