his name is Luke Sutherland, he's written a couple of books & musically was in the band long fin killie and also done a solo project called bows. he's also done a lot of work with mogwai from cody onwards as far as i remember.

Same here. I saw them in 2007 in Tokyo. Incredibly loud, but still retaining that hi-fidelity, the sound didn't get muddy at all. I was thinking it was probably lucky the club owner wasn't there, he'd be freaking out about his PA :)

Live they are insanely loud which just kills the subtlety of their music. Saw them at Barrowland, Glasgow Dec 2011. Sound mix did them no favours, indistinguishable guitars, just a wall of noise. Shame, cos I really love their stuff

@BobFilip hehe, I know what you mean with regards to Fear Satan. I watched them at the Queens Hall, Edinburgh, when they were promoting the 'Happy Songs..." album. That track man - I was on the first tier of this old hall and the volume was blowing my hair back - no shit! Any band out there who wanna go louder than Mogwai are just wasting their time. Mogwai have taken Loud to its logical conclusion, I cant imagine anything else working at those levels.
