  • @33blueberries What was the dvd called??

  • Superb! I would like to have all the recital Congratulation for this posting!

  • This is where she is unmatched by any other singer. It's the intention, so sincere and attentive, almost as if she were in deep meditation. I always tried to buy the best seat because I wanted to study her breathing technique, as well as the way the air was spun into gold and incense, so rich was her sound!

  • If you can locate a copy of the DVD, I highly recommend it. This recital comes bundled with a made-for-television collection of arias and I think perhaps some interviews, from 1963. This recital, I believe, was 1969, but don't quote me on it.

  • Richard is beautiful too!

  • la vie n'est pas toujours juste!

  • Quelle voix magnifique que celle de dame Joan Sutherland! Dommage quelle n'ait pas eu droit à la même popularité que La Callas!

  • This is the way of singing songs of Massenet Brava JOAN !

  • What a wonderful recital this was (1969, I believe), judging from this song and some of the other items featured on youtube. Thanks to Richard and Joan, Massenet's beautiful songs as well as operas such as Esclarmonde have been revived.

  • The lovely quality of the low tones hint at Dame Joan's mezzo roots. Who ever had a warmer, richer voice than this?
