@mrceebees14 Espo may not have been a sniper, but he definitely was NOT a playmaker, although most great centers are playmakers he was too goal happy and way too much of a puck hog to ever be considered a "playmaker". Espo was more of a power forward, if you had to classify him, very strong, overbearing style. And hey, a goal is a goal, call them garbage goals if you want, but the idea of a forward is to try to get the puck in the net by any means necessary, and Espo did that.
Frank Beaton, who you hear mentioned at the end, had a very brief career with the Rangers, who brought him in as a tough guy, if I remember correctly. But he had a great nickname, maybe the best every, for a fighter. Frank "Never" Beaton. I don't know if the nickname was accurate, but the nickname is the main reason I even remember him.
@ottvalley Espo was not a sniper for two reasons. 1) Most of his goals were garbage goals. He literally sat in front of the opposing goaltender and waited for the puck, then either deflected or looked for a rebound change. 2) He was a center, he was the play maker, wingers are snipers who main job is to shoot the puck.
This was the game where the Bruins went into the stands. Espo wasn't there when it started and he wonder why the hell no one had come into the locker room after a while. He walks out on the runway and sees all hell is breaking loose.
Esposito was a sniper and the best pure goal scorer of the 70's and that includes Lafluer.Phil was also a great leader who hated losing. He played with a passion which is why he was so successful,it's what made him so good.
You're arguing about something that was posted a year ago man. Hate to burst your bubble there too, but Espo is NOT a sniper son. Not every player who puts up a lot of goals is a sniper believe it or not.
Espo not a sniper....whatever it was you were smoking in the 70's, it seems like you're still not letting it go. Give it up man, you don't know what you're talking about....lol....Espo not a sniper, ...are you kidding!..hahaha
