Adapted from Robert Cormier's controversial novel - the most widely banned book in America - this "sardonic comedy-drama" (L.A. Herald Examiner) explores the cruelty and betrayal of adolesence. The Chocolate War is set in a Catholic boy's school where Jerry, a new student and rebellious loner, finds himself at odds with the school's hierarchy.
When Jerry refuses to be bullied into selling chocolates at the school's annual fundraiser, the surly school administrator, Brother Leon teams up with Archie, the leader of Trinity prep school's secret society the Vigils, to make Jerry's life a living hell. But an uncompromising Jerry refuses to back down.

favorite book. i hate books but this is the best fucking book in the world. my teacher read it to us and it is the only book i like

Man, read The Chocolate War over a decade ago, but it's still my favorite book. Unlike a lot of the books that we read in English class, this was very relatable to me. On the other hand, the drama and themes that happened in the book seemed much more exciting than anything that I was experiencing in my high school.

were doing book clubs in my class and all the books I wanted were picked so I was stuck with the Chocolate War. Only 2 other people are in my group when we are suppose to have 7. I don't like it so far but then again i'm only on the 7th chapter.

@chumshot1 Maybe they were deleated scenes? Sometimes when a new episode of something or a new movie has a trailer for it, they have scenes that didn't make it into the final cut.

haven't seen the movie yet, but this has been one of my favorite books of all time! Never knew they adapted it into a movie until today. Of course I was always skeptical as to whether or not any film could do this book justice. I mean Cormier's imagery is easy enough to imagine, but can any of it be captured on film to a satisfactory potential? And yes, I sound like an ass, but I love Cormier's works and especially The Chocolate War :)
