The hopper train you saw in "Lionel Grain Train" returns, this time with eleven extra cars (not counting the cabooses) and sporting some heavy metal on the head end--my scale-size MTH Chesapeke and Ohio 4-8-4 number 614.
Liberated from it's box after nine years of storage, the 614 needed only a battery transplant (this is a Protosound 1 unit) to get going, and a train of matching C&O (Chessie) grain hoppers for it's break-in run. Although the 28.5-foot train itself weighs in at 27 pounds, this 14-pound locomotive barely knows it's pulling anything as it hustles the consist around the test track. Total train length is a hair over 33 feet and total weight is just under 42 pounds (including the loco)
This time I ran with the windows open--preventing the MTH smoke units from fogging up the room :). You can see the "smoke" being drawn away as the train passes in front of the window. Hoppers are mostly Lionel, with MTH 2-bay ACF, 3-bay cylindrical, and a pair of K-Line aluminum 2-bay models toward the end of the train (they stand out with that funky shade of yellow), with Lionel and MTH cabooses (the MTH one being an MTHRRC piece) bringing up the rear. The 'obligatory' camera-between-the-wall-and-tracks shot is on Part Three, in case you were wondering.
It looks great with the smoke!!!
