Garland Waltz is the first dance in Act one of Tchaikovsky's masterpiece Ballet, Sleeping Beauty. It's peformed here by the Ballet Company of The Kirov Theater (now back to the Tsarist name Mariinsky.) We see some younguns here too from the world famous "Vaganova Ballet Academy" which is also based at the Kirov/Mariinsky.

The music "Garland Waltz" must be one of Tchaikovsky's most famous works, so beautiful it can bring tears to the eyes. And to add to the treat, it is followed by the wonderful "Rose Adagio!"

Irina Kolpakova is Princess Aurora, Sergei Berezhnoi is Prince Desiree, and Lubov (Love) Kunakova is the Lilac Fairy.

  • Everytime I hear this song, I can STILL hear the words "I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream..."

  • Every time i hear this music, a little voice in my head sings " I know you, I've walked with you once upon a dream..."

  • @MuscleheadsUnite OF COURSE, CAN U TELL?, HOW DID U NOTICE ? FURTHERMORE, I MET A LOT OF AIRHEADS, MUSCLEHEADS, BUNHEADS, AND YES ALL OF THEM UNITED. PROBABLY ALL RELATED TO YOU.

  • @zurlui1963 Did you get a degree in caps lock as well?

  • (8)I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream

  • Ah... I remember playing a strings-only arrangement of this in middle school (12-13 years ago), and it was simply gorgeous (once the bass and second violins could get the waltz background 1 2-3 to sound elegant)... and for Disney to have written Once Upon A Dream to this, they realized how the kids would enjoy the great song and the adults might recognize the tune from the ballet. Saved them a little work and created one of their most memorable songs in the process.

  • GOOD FOR YOUR COUSIN, BALLET NEEDS A LOT OF MAN IN DANCE. I USED TO DANCE BUT ACTUALLY I`M TEACHING. I GOT A BFA AND MFA IN DANCE PEDAGOGY AND CHOREOGRAPHY.

  • @zurlui1963 And I know that too...

  • @zurlui1963 And I told so... My cousin dance in ballet and that will be such shame if I didn't know something like that.
