Fred Foy, the Lone Ranger announcer ("Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear!") on radio, played the part of Lone Ranger once, when Brace Beemer (radio's Lone Ranger) had laryngitis.

This is a re-creation of that radio show, with Fred Foy reprising his Lone Ranger role and also performing his regular role as the show's announcer. It was performed in April 1996 at the 11th Annual Cincinnati Old Time Radio and Nostalgia Convention.

My daughter Karen Hughes plays the little girl, and I am the outlaw without a beard in the opening scene. The other outlaw, Steve Thompson, still acts at the conventions.

The man doing sound effects right at the beginning is the late Barney Beck, who did sound effects for The Shadow and Superman.

  • Amazing to see this. Shame I didn't live in the old-time radio era. I love finding shows on cd.

  • I wish radio still had serial adventure, drama, and western shows. So tired of talk radio.

  • Old time radio still lives in the hearts and imaginations of us OTR collectors.

I was born in 1960 near the end of its heyday and have been a collector since

1984 ( all though I have been a fan since 1970) Anybody who has an imagination

can listen to these kids shows and understand what it like to live in that era-what fun it must have been!!!

  • I STILL LOVE THE OLD TIME RADIO , STILL HAVE SOME ON TAPS.

  • Cool. This is awesome.
