Rachel Alexandra arrives at Belmont Park

Following an uneventful flight from Louisville, Ky., Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra arrived safely at Belmont Park late Tuesday afternoon for her next start, Saturdays Grade 1, $300,000 Mother Goose Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.

Accompanied by assistant trainer Scott Blasi, exercise rider Dominic Terry, the Stonestreet Stables security team, and four other thoroughbreds, Rachel Alexandra departed Churchill Downs at noon (EDT) for the 90-minute flight to Farmingdale, N.Y., and arrived at trainer Steve Asmussens barn on the Belmont Park backstretch by van at about 4:30 p.m.

After a few turns around the shedrow to stretch her legs, and a bath, the daughter of Medaglia dOro was bedded down in stall No. 5 the same stall previously occupied by two-time Horse of the Year Curlin at 5:30 p.m.

Four and a half hours, barn to barn, thats pretty good, said Blasi. Shes a pretty good traveler, though shes shipped to Oaklawn Park, and the Fair Grounds, and of course to Baltimore.

Robbed my ass. Rachel Alexandra broke 3 track records, won the first ever preakness in the 13 hole, shatters Ruffian's record, travels 14 tracks 7 states... Zenyatta stayed in California with the same horses until the Classic. Saying Rachel sucks makes you a bitter, Zenyatta obsessed bitch. Real fans will appreciate both mares.

I'm one of the people that can't stand to see a horse's tongue hanging out when it's not necessary, ruins alot of good photos. I can see it under some racing conditions tho. But she is one fantastic filly in talent and looks.

I'm sure you didn't even bother to read ForeverHoofbeats comment. And if you scroll down I will say that Ruffian was in fact probably the better horse than Rachel Alexandra. But in my heart I truly believe RA was better than Zen. If you notice I made that comment 8 months ago. Opinions change.

@queenluciaa i agree with you, i'll agree that both horses are very good but now don't go hatin on Ruffian though....if she would of had her chance and not ran that match race she probably would of been able to break so many more track records be of been just as great as both rachel and zenyatta

What did RA do in 09' that WASN'T great? Nearly break the Haskell record by only 1/5 of a second? Demoilish Ruffian's record? Win the Preakness as a filly in 75 years? Become the first Femal or Male to win from the 13 hole? What displeases you about the perfect 09' compain? Because she easily stole the HOTY title from Zenyatta? LOL

Sweety, whats your mumbo jumbo going to help the sport anyhow? All you do is defend why your whinning about something that doesn't even matter. This world be a much better place if people finally enjoyed life for once. Just happy to know that 2 of these brilliant animals are on this earth with us. I'm sure if Rachel was injured and ended up like Eight Belles people would be ranking her higher than Ruffian! Its a shame a horse needs to die to earn that much respect.
