Wildlife authorities are raising the red flag over a sharp rise in poaching in the country. Last year alone 214 elephants were killed in the country, the highest number in decades. Now, neighbouring Tanzania is pushing to have its elephants removed from the list of endangered species. That, as Cynthia Vukets reports, would spell doom to Kenyas elephant population.

  • Thank YOU, Kenya, for speaking up for the African elephant at this year's CITES!

There should be no more "one-off" sales of stockpiled ivory. EVER AGAIN. These sales increase demand and as such increase poaching.

  • evil

  • The somali problems and the many thieves are to blame for this issue in Kenya today! To hell with pirates and thieves walking around everywhere led by one.... you know who!

  • YU BET

  • There is nothing that KWS can do if Tanzania and Zambia want to leave CITIES. Increase surveillance in Kenya borders and do regular elephant and rhino monitoring.

  • @siasabora hahahaha Siasa, hata kama ni viagra, ndovu wapewe. First, you need massive amounts of viagra per elephant. Then female elephants come into oestrus, and males come into mast. These 2 events must be in sync, for a chance to mate to occur.

Lastly, in a nation of thieves, the game warders given the viagra to inject the massive amounts needed for one elephant will steal and use/sell the viagra.

Then when you come back to Kenya, you will be buying the same viagra off the pharmacy shelves

  • We've become a nation of whiners....time we shaped up! What's so darned special with Tzs? We were light years ahead of them in Kenyatta days as they experimented with socialism as Kaunda cried his eyeballs out and Amin decimated Ugandans! When did the Homeland become a laughing stock?

  • Daktari Njogu:- How did Tz n Zambia get their (Njogu) numbers to such high levels that they now seek to have them face genocide? Can't KWS do the same? (hata kama ni Viagra zipewe!)
