As chaos replaced culture, Europe was beset by famine, plague, persecutions, and a state of war that was so persistent it was only rarely interrupted by peace.

@bdjoh011 No. Not even close. First of all, Justinian was an intelligent man instead of just LOOKING like an intelligent man. Second of all, Justinian didn't spend more than every single Byzantine/Roman Emperor before him combined, and thirdly, this isn't the bloody dark ages. We had -one- incompetent president, that doesn't make his successor a Messiah.
